Your healthcare provider may recommend a thyroid ultrasound if you’re experiencing symptoms such as a visible lump in the neck, unexplained changes in weight, alterations in heart rate, or fluctuations in energy levels. Additionally, thyroid ultrasounds are crucial for monitoring known nodules or conditions affecting thyroid function.

No special preparation is required for a thyroid ultrasound. You may eat and drink as usual and take your medications as prescribed. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the neck area.

During the Procedure: You will lie on an examination table, and a small amount of water-based gel will be applied to your neck to enhance sound wave transmission. The sonographer will then gently move the transducer over your neck to capture images of your thyroid from various angles.

Duration: The thyroid ultrasound typically takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Comfort: The procedure is painless, and you should experience no discomfort. However, you’re encouraged to communicate with your sonographer if you feel any unease.
